Despite a sluggish economy, we still raised over $30,000 for melanoma research at our 7th annual "Driving for Surviving" Melanoma Charity Golf Classic. Since its inception, this event has now contributed over $200,000 toward Dr. Wen-Jen Hwu's efforts to find a cure for this disease.

This year's event was held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia, and we were once again blessed with beautiful weather. For the first time in several years, we did not sell out, but we still had 98 golfers and dozens of enthusiastic volunteers. In a break from tradition, boxed lunches were served to the golfers on the course by Brian Cole, the Foundation Chairman, and other volunteers. Many thanks to those who helped put these lunches together on short notice.

We want to thank our many hole sponsors and our primary sponsors:
Elizabeth and Haley Cole
ASTRO
iCore Networks
R&R Catering

And, we want to thank Sheehy Nissan for once again offering up a car and other great prizes for the "hole in one" contests. Unfortunately, no one collected this year.

And, our thanks go to Moe's Southwest Grill for once again sponsoring the "hit the green" contest and providing a number of prizes for the event.

There was a little bit of a mix-up on the tournament scoring during the awards presentation. Fortunately, we were able to resolve the situation for the gross winners immediately, however, the net scoring announced at the event was also later determined to be incorrect. The Foundation has ensured that the coveted 1st place trophies are now in the proper hands. Here are the final results:
