"Driving for Surviving" Melanoma Golf Tournament

The Foundation will not be holding a golf tournament and silent auction in 2011, but we still welcome your donations to help us "touch a life." Please click on the "Make a Donation" link for instructions. Thank you for your continued support.

Please note that the Foundation is now located in Reston, VA.

Our 6th annual golf event was once again a resounding success. We sold out for the 5th year in a row and raised over $40,000 for the M.D, Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, bringing our total donations for melanoma research to more than $170,000.

Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville, VA was once again the setting, and we were blessed with another beautiful Fall day. Thirty-seven foursomes (148 golfers) teed it up at 1:00 pm on September 8, 2008. Congressman Tom Davis of Virginia’s 11th District, a melanoma survivor himself, once again took part in our opening ceremonies and even played a few holes this year. We were also fortunate to have with us Dr. Wen-Jen Hwu, Dr. Merrick Ross, and Dr. Steven Mays, all of M.D. Anderson, who screened over 60 people for skin cancer.

So many people contribute to the success of these events, but we especially want to thank our primary sponsors:
Elizabeth and Haley Cole
ASTRO
iCore Networks
R&R Catering

Special thanks also go to Ruth’s Chris Steak House of Fairfax for sponsoring the putting contest, Moe’s Southwest Grill for sponsoring a contest hole, Sheehy Nissan for sponsoring our hole-in-one contests (no one collected this year), and Joanne Lingerfelt for sponsoring the Closest to the Pin contest.
